Driveway Paving
Commercial and high-end residential driveway paving — asphalt or concrete, properly subgraded, and built to handle New Mexico's extreme heat and UV.
Driveways That Survive New Mexico Weather
Driveway failures in New Mexico are almost always due to inadequate subgrade preparation or improper asphalt specification — not pavement age. Desert soils often include expansive clays that swell with moisture and shrink in drought, creating differential movement that cracks improperly prepared pavement. We assess the subgrade, address problem soils, and specify the right paving material and thickness for your specific driveway conditions.
- Subgrade assessment and preparation including removal of expansive or unsuitable soils
- Proper drainage slope design to direct runoff away from structures and property
- Hot mix asphalt or Portland cement concrete to appropriate thickness for the application
- Concrete expansion and control joints properly placed to manage cracking

Asphalt vs. Concrete for New Mexico Driveways
Both materials work well in New Mexico when properly specified. Asphalt costs less initially but requires seal coating every 3–5 years and may soften slightly in extreme summer heat under parked vehicles. Concrete costs 20–30% more initially but requires almost no maintenance, won't soften in heat, and lasts 30+ years. We'll help you choose based on your budget and maintenance preferences.
