Commercial Asphalt Paving
Hot mix asphalt paving for roads, parking lots, and private drives — machine-laid, properly compacted, and built to last in New Mexico's extreme heat cycle.
Asphalt Paving That Lasts in New Mexico Heat
New Mexico's extreme heat cycle is uniquely destructive to improperly specified asphalt. Surface temperatures exceeding 160°F in summer, combined with UV exposure and the freeze-thaw cycles of higher-elevation projects, demand an asphalt mix design matched to the climate — not just whatever is cheapest. We specify and install NMDOT-approved hot mix asphalt designs appropriate to your pavement's traffic loading and climate conditions.
- NMDOT-compliant hot mix asphalt mix designs selected for traffic loading and climate
- Machine-laid with asphalt paver for consistent thickness and smooth surface
- Compaction achieved with steel drum and pneumatic rollers in proper sequence
- Nuclear density gauge testing with compaction reports provided at project close

Proper Compaction Is Everything
More asphalt failures result from improper compaction than from thin design. We use vibratory steel drum rollers and pneumatic tire rollers in the correct sequence to achieve 92–96% of maximum density — and we verify it with nuclear density gauge testing. Properly compacted asphalt resists rutting, raveling, and premature cracking.

Asphalt Paving Applications
From roads to parking lots to private drives — every asphalt paving scope handled.
Road & Highway Paving
New road paving, lane additions, road widening, and overlay projects for private, municipal, and NMDOT right-of-way — all to specification and permitted.
Parking Lot Paving
Commercial parking lot construction with base course, asphalt paving, proper slope for drainage, and preparation for striping and ADA compliance.
Private Drive & Access Roads
Driveways, commercial access roads, industrial yard paving, and private road construction for developments, estates, and commercial properties.
Asphalt Overlay
Resurfacing of existing deteriorated asphalt by milling the top layer and placing new asphalt — extending pavement life at significantly lower cost than full reconstruction.
Asphalt Paving FAQ
Thickness depends on the pavement's traffic loading. Typical parking lots use 3 inches of asphalt over 4–6 inches of aggregate base. Roadways carrying heavy trucks require 4–6 inches or more. We specify the correct structural section for your conditions.
Asphalt can be opened to foot traffic after 24 hours and vehicle traffic after 48–72 hours in New Mexico summer heat. Full cure takes 6–12 months, during which time the pavement reaches its final hardness.
Properly designed and compacted asphalt in New Mexico typically lasts 15–25 years before requiring rehabilitation, depending on traffic loading and maintenance. Seal coating every 3–5 years significantly extends pavement life.
