Pothole Patching
Permanent pothole repair using hot mix asphalt — saw-cut edges, proper depth, and compacted patches that last, not cold mix temporary fixes.
The Difference Between Permanent and Temporary Pothole Repair
Cold mix pothole patch from a bag is a temporary measure — it will wash out, ravel, and fail within months. Permanent pothole repair requires saw-cutting the deteriorated area to a square or rectangular boundary, removing all failing material to sound pavement, cleaning and tacking the repair area, and placing hot mix asphalt compacted to match the surrounding pavement. This is the repair that lasts — and the one we perform.
- Saw-cut boundaries perpendicular to pavement surface for clean, durable edges
- Remove all failing asphalt and base material to a sound bearing surface
- Apply tack coat to all vertical and horizontal surfaces before patch placement
- Compact hot mix asphalt patch to match surrounding pavement grade

Address the Cause, Not Just the Symptom
Potholes form when water infiltrates through cracks, saturates the base, and causes the base to pump under traffic — leaving the asphalt unsupported. If the underlying base has failed, patching the surface without repairing the base will result in another pothole in the same location within months. We probe patch areas to assess base condition and repair the base where necessary before placing new asphalt.
