Highway Site Preparation
Large-scale site clearing, mass grading, and earthwork for highway construction — executed to NMDOT specifications with SWPPP compliance and full permit management.
Highway Site Prep Requires a Different Scale of Operation
Highway site preparation is not residential grading scaled up — it requires mass earthwork equipment, coordinated cut-and-fill haul operations, NMDOT-required SWPPP implementation, and phased construction that keeps the project moving while maintaining regulatory compliance. Patriot Asphalt and Construction brings the equipment, licensed personnel, and regulatory experience to execute highway site preparation on schedule.
- Clearing and grubbing of existing vegetation, trees, and debris per permit requirements
- Mass cut-and-fill earthwork with haul route management and stockpile control
- SWPPP preparation and BMP installation per NMED General Permit requirements
- Compaction testing at each fill lift with density reports for NMDOT submittal

SWPPP & Environmental Compliance Built In
Every highway site prep project requires a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) before breaking ground. We prepare the SWPPP, install all required Best Management Practices (BMPs), and maintain them throughout the project — keeping your project in compliance and avoiding costly stop-work orders.

Highway Site Prep Scopes
Every earthwork scope required before highway paving can begin.
Clearing & Grubbing
Removal of existing vegetation, trees, root systems, brush, and surface debris within the highway right-of-way — disposed of properly or mulched per permit requirements.
Mass Earthwork & Grading
Cut-and-fill operations to bring the highway corridor to design subgrade elevation — including slope construction, cut slopes, fill embankments, and ditch grading.
Subgrade Preparation
Scarifying, moisture conditioning, and compaction of the subgrade to achieve 95% of maximum dry density — verified with nuclear density gauge testing per NMDOT specifications.
Erosion & Sediment Control
SWPPP implementation including silt fence, gravel bag berms, inlet protection, construction exits, and hydroseeding of disturbed slopes per NMED permit conditions.
